Designing Temple Bags for Every Latter-day Saint

I remember the first time I went to the temple in 1979, just before I entered the Missionary Training Center. I was nervous, and honestly, I wasn't well prepared. But even then, I could not deny the peace I felt in the House of the Lord. That day left a lasting impression on my heart. Since that first visit, I have strived to faithfully attend the temple. I love the peace I feel there and the joy of serving God in this way.

The Temple Bag Question

Over the years, I began to have some concerns about the build and quality of typical LDS temple bags and temple totes. Particularly, I noticed that most temple bags were too big to maneuver inside of the changing stalls in the dressing area and definitely too big to fit inside the small lockers. Many patrons would just place their temple bag on top of the lockers but, being short, that wasn't really an option for me. In the temple, I want to focus on feeling the Spirit, not worrying about how to change clothes and store my belongings.

When I shopped for temple bags, I found that many were outdated, unattractive, or looked more like party purses than something meant for sacred worship. Other bags were hard to use and not very practical. I also noticed that as more young people attend the temple, they want something modern, functional, and beautiful.    

Answer to my Question

That's when my business ideas began to take shape. I needed a temple bag designed specifically for temple attendance (and I realized others might like it too). After a lot of thought, I designed the Classic Temple Bag. My goal was to create something purposeful, peaceful, and elegant—something that would remind me of why I go to the temple.

The Classic Temple Bag is available in an ivory or gray color with canvas or upholstery fabric. They are lined with gospel-themed prints and embroidered with the phrase "think celestial"—words from President Nelson that have captured my heart and remind me of the eternal purpose of temple worship.

In order to make the bag more practical, I designed it so that you can fold it flat—perfect for fitting inside narrow temple lockers. It also has a hook-friendly structure, so you can hang it on the locker door and keep it open while dressing or undressing. 

Another Answer to Another Question

I also knew, however, that the Classic Temple Bag may not be the best fit for everyone. I thought about Latter-day Saints around the world who make very long commutes by public transportation to visit the temple and who live in various climates. I thought they might like something that is lightweight, washable, and budget-friendly; So I designed the Easy-Care Temple Bag.

A Visit to Hong Kong that Inspired Me

When I visited Hong Kong in June 2025, I was moved by the faith of the Latter-day Saints there who love to go to the temple. They loved the Easy-Care Temple Bag because it's simple, travel-friendly, and lined with gospel-themed prints. One sister told me, "This is a way for us to say who we are without saying a word."

Hearing from Happy Temple Bag Owners

Just as I was writing this article, a friend who recently bought an Easy-Care Temple Bag called me. She said that during her temple visit, several patrons stopped her to ask where she got her bag. They loved the temple print! I've heard similar stories many times and it makes me so happy.
