Welcome to QA Bags!
Hi, I’m Isabella, and this little family business began with a big question: “How can my son, Philip, find fulfilling work that gives him financial independence?” After eight years of job searches and setbacks, the answer finally came to me in October 2023—I’d start a business and employ him myself!
Philip is a bright young man with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Despite earning a college degree, becoming fluent in German, and learning coding skills, he found himself stuck in a cycle of odd jobs. So here I am: a clinical social worker by trade, retired mom, and now diving headfirst into the unknown to build a new business where he can thrive.

But what could we create that is meaningful? For over a decade, I’ve handcrafted faux fur baptism blankets for children in my neighborhood, personalizing each one with their name and baptism date. These blankets have become cherished keepsakes, with many still snuggling with them today. Over the years, friends often asked me to make these blankets for their own children and grandchildren. I thought— “Maybe this could work as a business!”

Around the same time, inspiration struck again—a unique design for a missionary bag that would be functional and stylish. Though I didn’t know how to make one, I took a sewing class while visiting family in Hong Kong in November 2023, and soon our first bag came to life. Since then, every challenge has sparked a new idea: baptism blankets, missionary bags, scripture bags, temple bags, and accessories to inspire and share faith wherever life leads.
A Legacy of Craftsmanship
When I was an infant, my mother embroidered for extra income to support the family. As I grew up, I was surrounded by the hum of sewing machines in my parents’ textile factory. My father was a skilled businessman and creative designer. My mother, a talented seamstress, taught me the value of patience, creativity, and the joy of turning a simple piece of fabric into something meaningful. After school and during summer vacation, my three siblings and I would work alongside our parents, doing whatever work was needed. It was there that I learned not only hard work, diligence, and the technical skills of sewing but also the power of making something with your hands—something that could bring comfort, beauty, and even a sense of connection.

As I began creating QA Bags, it was as if a lightbulb went off. All those years of watching my parents sew and run their business had given me the foundation to pursue this venture, and I realized that I could make it happen. The same care and attention to detail that my parents poured into their work now fuels my passion for crafting each item we make at QA Bags. It feels like a full-circle moment, and it’s incredibly special to know that my son, Philip, is also part of this creative journey.
